Your trusted guide to Japan's finest nightlife!
For a safe and transparent Japanese nightlife experience
KTV Nightlife Japan is a multilingual editorial guide to Japan's cabaret clubs (kyabakura), hostess bars, and premium lounges, made for international tourists and foreign residents. Industry jargon, opaque pricing, and cultural nuance often make first visits stressful. We publish vetted venue information and cultural context in five languages so that readers can make informed, safe choices.
Every venue and article on this site passes the following review standards.
We only list venues that pass four checks: verified existence, valid operating license (Fueihou), service quality, and capacity to serve non-Japanese speakers. Non-compliant venues are excluded.
We disclose set fees, nomination (shimei) charges, bottle fees, and service charges wherever possible. Prices change, so we recommend confirming directly with the venue before visiting.
Industry terms (shimei, dohan, shime, etc.) are not literally translated — we explain the cultural context in each language. Glossary, FAQ, and Beginner's Guide cross-reference each other for layered understanding.
Store data re-validates as often as every 5 minutes; city, area, and column pages re-validate hourly. Opening hours, prices, and roster data are confirmed with venues on a recurring schedule.
We cover Tokyo (Shinjuku, Roppongi, Ginza, Shibuya), Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sapporo, and other major Japanese nightlife areas. Five languages are supported: Japanese, English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
